The Golf Club at South River Wedding | Heather & Brenden

Heather and Brenden had such a pretty wedding at The Golf Club at South River. The course and the venue are a perfect blend of modern and rustic vibes giving us so many spots for great photos. Heather’s dress was just perfect for her.

Their ceremony took place outside surrounded by friends and family. Their blended family came together by doing a really cute sand ceremony.

I love when couple’s aren’t stressed out and just enjoy the day. That’s exactly what Heather and Brenden did. Also, they definitely know how to party because the reception was a blast, too!

Guest Blog Post — How to Get Married During the Pandemic – Enter the Micro Wedding!

I am so excited to introduce my friend Maya, who is the owner of Honey & Lavender Events, based out of DC to give us some insight into the Micro Wedding!

So many happily engaged couples are experiencing and have experienced the repercussions and effects of COVID-19. Countless engaged couples have been faced with the unbelievable and emotional task of drastically modifying their wedding plans or postponing their wedding celebration until things are more stable in and around our country and world.

While the journey to “I do” may look (a lot) differently than what you and your fiance and loved ones had originally envisioned and planned, all is not lost. You can still have a beautiful and meaningful celebration with close family and friends, and most importantly your soon-to-be life partner!

Have you considered the Micro Wedding?

spread love not germs

Micro Weddings are the rage now and why not? It still allows couples to get married around or even on the original date they had planned.

  • A micro wedding is a smaller-scale celebration that typically has a guest count of 20 or less, and has a shorter and much more simplistic timeline.

  • Most often, micro weddings will have a quick ceremony and a more casual and relaxed reception.

  • A typical micro wedding package offers a bundle of services (planning and coordination, venue, cutting cake, some florals, and photography to name a few) for a set and affordable price. While a couple may have to trim the guest list and make other adjustments, this still allows them to get married in front of loved ones, in-person and virtually, as originally desired.

Just because the celebration is smaller, doesn’t make it any less significant, beautiful or elegant. In many ways a Micro Wedding allows couples to really lean into the reason why they have chosen to spend the rest of their lives together and to really focus on the people and details about their special day that are the most important to them.

The Front Steps Project

As a photographer, it’s my job to capture moments, to freeze time, to help you celebrate. Behind the camera I’m not only documenting your story, but cheering you on and rooting for you to succeed! It is my privilege as your photographer to capture your moments of joy: big and small. Those moments of joy are still happening in homes right now. I know it. But I can’t be there to capture them. Starting today I, along with my friend and fellow photographer Megan Evans Photography, am offering to take five minute “Front Steps Portraits” for local residents.

After your quick session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait.  In exchange, I am asking you to make a good faith donation (suggested minimum $25)  that will benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank or my personal nonprofit organization, Happy Totes.

I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject.  This amazing project was started by Needham, Mass, photographer Cara Soulia who had the vision and the drive to start a movement. Thank you you Cara!

Please share these posts. Let’s spread the word! The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated.  I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the train or at the gym. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in Anne Arundel County.

I will be taking images outside ONLY and from at least 10 feet away. Our session will be brief, likely just 5 minutes. This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. You are welcome to come as you are. Include your pets! I want to see bed head, pajamas, baseball hats, mismatched outfits, etc. I want to capture your family in THIS MOMENT in history.  Be you.

Eastern Shore Wedding | Emily & Travis | Silver Swan Bayside | Nina K Photography

Emily and Travis are awesome. If you can’t tell from the pictures, Emily is always shining her killer smile…and Travis is always smiling with her (how could you not?!)

They met online a few years back and had a lot of the same interests, traveling being a big one. They have gone to some beautiful places around the world together already.

Their wedding was at one of my favorite spots, Silver Swan Bayside, on the Eastern Shore. This place has stunning sunsets right on the water and this one did not disappoint! It was a beautiful October day for Maryland.

Every detail was perfect and unique to them. Emily’s dad is a woodworker and made all of the wooden signs for their wedding by hand. He also made those beautiful ring boxes that are engraved with their names! So very special.

You can always tell when you meet two great people that they must have great families, and they definitely did. Both Emily and Travis’ families were so sweet. Their siblings were right by their sides all day long and they gave hilarious speeches! I love a family that can be silly together!

They must have some wonderful people watching over them too, because right after the ceremony and double rainbow appeared right over their heads!

Blue Moon Rising Wedding | Nicki & Michael | Deep Creek Lake Wedding Photographer

Fairytale Wedding…The only way to describe what was Nicki & Michael’s wedding. From the perfect temperature, to the stunning decorations, nothing could have made this wedding weekend any better. Blue Moon Rising in Deep Creek Lake is THE cutest spot for camping (and those that know me know I am not a camper!) Located on top of a beautiful mountain, overlooking the lake, it’s private campground includes about 20 “tiny” cabins- each decorated with the most quaint detail.

Nicki and Mike had the whole weekend planned perfectly for everyone. It was relaxed, intimate, and most of all so fun- in true Nicki & Mike fashion!  The decorations were incredible. Ferns and greenery with the perfect splash of color lined the farm style tables. Lanterns filled the walkways, flowers blended perfectly in every spot. Nicki has a knack for decorating- and this was her greatest work yet!

As Nicki walked down the aisle to a beautiful acoustic version of Beyonce’s Halo, I don’t think I saw a dry eye. I’m lucky I got any shots during that time, because I couldn’t see through my lens! Mike (barely) held back tears as he and their sweet son watched her walk down the tree-lined path to them.

Every piece of this wedding came together beautifully- and ended with everyone around a campfire singing songs together, having a blast. There was a lot of love at that campground that weekend.

Some things are just meant to be…and this is definitely one of them.
